Car Alarms: Alarm wont let me start my car, porsche 928, designtech

Question
I have a Clifford Premier alarm installed in '88 Porsche 928. I suspect the alarm is acting up. Periodically when I turn the key to start nothing happens, I then need to push the valet button under the dash to reset or if that doesn't work I disconnect the battery for a few seconds which seems to re-set things and the car will start normally.How can I fix this problem?
