Car Alarms: 1992 Nissan Maxima Alarm Disarm Wire, silver dots, nissan maxima

Question
QUESTION: Hi and thank you for all your help you provide. My 1992 Maxima's car alarm goes off half the time when trying to simply open the doors. It's random and weird so I want to permanently disable the alarm.

I've read two answers provided on this site (2004, 2007) regarding what wire is the disarm wire. Both said the light green/black with silver dots wire. However, I see a 1/2 light green, 1/2 black wire, but it has no dots at all. I notice a few other wires have a silver blob on them. Is this the "dots" mentioned? Anyway, it appears I don't have a light green/black with silver dots wire at all.

I've looked at this page: http://www.modifiedlife.com/1992-nissan-maxima-auto-alarm-wiring-diagram/.

I do have a dark green/black wire with a single silver blob on it, which concerns me since that wire isn't on the above list at all.

Therefore, I would greatly appreciate any clarification you can provide. Do you happen to have a pin diagram for the theft module? I've been told that would indicate what wire is correct. Thank you very much for your help!

ANSWER: Verify the location you are looking for:

ECU behind center console above engine ECU.
Wire facing dr. side of vehicle in blue plug.
May also find green/black above dr kick on some
models.

Make sure the right wire is grounded.

Check again and let me know how it goes.

QUESTION: I'm totally confused by your answer unfortunately. What does the Electronic Control Unit have to do with the alarm? My understanding was we were only concerned with the Theft Module on the left of the steering column. Here is the previous AllExperts answer I referred to:

http://en.allexperts.com/q/Car-Alarms-1513/1992-Nissan-Maxima-Alarm.htm

To quote:

The FACTORY ALARM DISARM WIRE IS
light green/black/ silver dots |-|
in the anti-theft module harness.
The Anti-theft module is located to left of
steering column. It actually says
Theft Warning on module.

Once Located, splice into this wire with
a similar gauge wire, and put it to
a solid chassis ground. This terminates
the alarm functions entirely.

So again, I found the theft module that says "Theft Warning" but my problem is I don't see a light green/black wire with silver dots. I have a light green/black but it doesn't have silver dots.

So I'm wondering if there is some more specific way to determine which wire to cut? Thank you very much. I'm new to all this so thank you for your patience.

Answer
Sorry, to clarify for this purpose, the green/black with silver dots
would be smallish dots along the wire.

If you only see the green/black, that is fine. splice
off a bit of vynal covering got copper to copper and ground it out.

Tape off when done.
