Car Alarms: Jeep alarm problems, jeep grand cherokee, starter wire

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1994 jeep grand cherokee and my alarm has prevented
my vehicle from starting. It has stall previous to the
starting problems. I research this problem and did the
"splice a like wire to the purple/yellow wire in the driver
kick panel" My starting problems continue, and i guess my
alarm is still active as well, because the security
indicator still flashes when using power locks, and when i
replaced the battery, it when into the "power up" mode. Now
my thinking was once you grounded out the purple/yellow wire
the factory is pretty much deactivated. Is that not the
case?

ANSWER: Yes. And it probably did.
Thing is, there is NO starter kill in this vehicle
from the FACTORY.

Horn honk and headlight flashing system yes, and when
you grounded that wire, it likely took that out.
But would not affect an after market alarm.

Look for an after market system under the dash and
see the past posts about how to go into and out of valet,
and repairing the starter wire.

QUESTION: There isn't an aftermarket alarm on my vehicle just the factory. I also left out that its a 1994 Jeep GC limited, don't know if that matters or not. In regards to your answer, I'm absolutely sure the factory alarm features a no run feature. From my research when the alarm i triggered and you try to start the vehicle, it will start for a moment and stall/die after a few seconds. And any attempt to start it after that "initial start" will not work. Which is where I'm at now with my no start problem.

ANSWER: Well according to ALL data bases (6 of them) this truck has
that wire in the black plug.
If grounded to the frame, then the alarm will not function.

If yours is not functioning that way, I suggest a tech
have a look to see what else it may be.

I would only be speculating since I can not inspect.

QUESTION: So what's the price range for having the factory alarm removed or permanently disabled by a tech out side of the dealership? Just an estimation would be fine.

Answer
The dealership will cost you your first born male child.
And they are not going to disable it, they will repair
it. Very pricey. Can not remove the system however.

Try a local car alarm shop for the best results.

It's likely that you will only pay for an hour of labor.
