Car Alarms: alarms, buick century, valet

Question
I gave my son a 1990 buick century for college to use. After putting the alarm on valet so he didn't have to set it all the time yesterday when he was driving he noticed that the panel on the alarm was blinking. He's still able to start the car up and shut down but the light still blinks. He's afraid that it will kill the battery. Also he doesn't have the key for the alarm anymore.

Short of removal, what is your question?
If it's to confirm that the LED will drain the battery,
unlikeley at 3 miliwatt draw.

But if not in control of the system, it will
continue to become a problem at times.

I'd say remove and repair at this point
rather than take the chance and get stuck.
