Car Alarms: Remote doesnt work in 100meter radius, home security system, rf signals

Question
QUESTION: My after-market DEI Hornet RPN491 does not operate in the parking lot of my apartment, if I push my car 50 meters away it starts working fine. How can I determine if someone has a Jamming Device. It works every where except for 50m range from my apartment complex.

ANSWER: No "Jamming" is being done I suspect, on purpose
anyway.

More like a stronger field is being dispersed close by
and is interupting the lesser frequencies.

This can be from a home security system,
or even a cell tower near by causing
a "blanket" effect, covering your
vehicle's location, and signal squelching it.

These are RF signals, so likely as not, the only recourse
would be to get a signal direction identifyer from
the local Gov. agency like the US FCC, to locate
the source and then have a discussion about it with
the owner of that source.

Happens alot. Not much can be done unless
you can come to an agreement with the source,
or replace it with a system not relying on that
frequency to operate.

I hope this helped some.

Good luck with it.

QUESTION: Cannot find the override switch. I do see a blue connector in the fuse area. Is it ossible that the override swich was not installed. Or is there a way to have the frequecy reset somehow.

Answer
All things are possible, but the "over ride" switch has zero
to do with this issue about range, or signal degredation.

Your decision rests on identifying that over lapping,
stronger signal, or replacing what you have.

The valet is usually placed under the dash.
You can take down the dash, locate the port
where the valet would be in it, and trace back
to it's location.
