Car Alarms: audiovox alarm wont shut off, neutral safety switch, valet mode

Question
QUESTION: Hello,
I have a 99 dodge caravan that had an audiovox alarm installed in it (this happened before I owned the car). I believe that it is a prestige series perhaps an APS-25CH.
This morning, without warning, I used the remote to disarm the alarm and then when i opened the door the horn started honking and the lights started blinking. I tried to rearm and disarm and I tried to pull off the battery cable to reset the system but nothing has worked. The normal alarm will disarm but the horn will not. I finally pulled the horn relay to stop the noise but i can still hear it working.
Do you have any ideas on what this could be?

Thank you,
David

ANSWER: Ok, should be fairly easy. To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

That should solve the troubles for now.
Repeat the steps to toggle back to valet when needed.

Let me know what you discover.

QUESTION: Alright, I tried what you suggested and using the toggle switch I put it into valet mode but the horn still comes on if the door is opened.
One more piece of info. Over the past week i have had to do other work which included replacing the BCM and the neutral safety switch. However, when i was done with this work the alarm was working fine. In fact, last night i drove it around to make sure everything was working. Like i said before when i came back out this morning the horn started going off even with the system disarmed.
I also tried to disconnect the brain of the alarm system entirely but the horn and lights kept alarming. I'm at my wits end and even if it meant removing the system entirely I would do it so that i would have the car to get to work. Any other ideas?

Thanks,
David

Answer
Hmmm, the factory alarm is in conflict,
not the Audiovox I think.
The normal way is door key in drivers door,
turn all the way left to disarm, and then
all the way right to open/unlock.

Try this.

If no joy at that point, I would go back
and have them reset the system at Dodge.
