Car Alarms: grand am car alarm, alarmtek, gm service

Question
QUESTION: I set off my alarm (door half closed and locked)when i opened it  and went to start my car the alarm went off, the problem is my remote is broken, any way i can "reboot" it so it doesn't sound off every time i go to start my car.

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: All the signal lights flash, and the horn honks. Didn't notice a security light on dash just the light for antitheft on stereo (stock). I pulled the fuse out for the horn and it stopped even lights stopped flashing. Just wondering if there is a way to reboot it still talking about 2000 grand am gt

Answer
Well, it has PASSLOCK II so maybe.
And if it does not start, this is the likely
reason.

So ok, try key in the ignition, turn forward
to just before start, and leave it that way
for 10 mins. If it learns the resistance code again,
you should be ok. If not, either a visit
to GM service will be needed to reset and repair,
or you can bypass.

See www.GMPASSLOCK.com for the options you have.
