Car Alarms: Alarm for 2001 Chevy, car alarm installation, chevy silverado

Hi, i have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500, it has an alarm system installed that locks the doors when the doors are closed and the vehicle is off, it does one beep then locks the doors about 10 seconds later, i was wondering if there was a way to just use the remote to set the alarm rather than the truck doing it, i dont have a manual for the alarm system, do you know the name of this system? or how to fix it? thanks
