Car Alarms: Lexus LS 430 - Alarm chronically sounds, lexus ls 430, 2001 lexus ls 430

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2001, Lexus LS 430. Just recently, the alarm has started to sound, with lights flashing sporadically throughout the day, and unfortunately night. Of course, when parked at the dealer, it never sounded. Could this be a short? The dealer is at a loss and must believe I am hallucinating. My kids and neighbors believe.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"started to sound"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Ok let's clear up the terminology glitch a bit.

1. FACTORY/OEM alarm = Part of the original schematics
and plans from the manufacturer.
(horn honk, head lights flash, Starter may crank and
die, no spark)

2. DEALER INSTALLED alarm = Just that. Once the vehicle
is brought to a dealer, the dealer sub contracts the after market
security out.
(horn might honk, siren and parking lights flash, starter kill relya,
no start, no crank, just dead.)

3. AFTER MARKET alarm: Same as #2 but Customer IS AWARE that
the system was put in at the dealership, but may not
be informed of the brand name, or even what it's
total capabilities are.
(siren & parking lights flash, starter kill)

Which one applies to yours?

QUESTION: Thank you a fast reply. It is a factory/OEM installed alarm.

Answer
That's problematic then. These alarms are monitoring
current drain. It appears from this one, there is an open
source, or a bad pin switch triggering the system to sound.

I would have it evaluated at a car alarm shop.
There is one wire in the car that when grounded,
would stop the alarm from ever arming again,
but will require some work to do it, and I can not
share this info online since it would
leave this car, and any other people can read about here,
vulnerable.

If this option interests you, go to www.mywires.com
and see the link there to get this info.

But if it's a siren going off, the options are different.
Since you determined it OEM, the "fix" is a surgical
piece of work under the dash.

Good luck.
