Car Alarms: car alarm, honda passport, alarmtek

Question
QUESTION: i have read questions you've answered and you seem very knowledgeable. so here goes:
my purse was stolen and my car alarm remote along with it. my car has been sitting safely on the street but has since died. i have an aftermarket alarm that wont let me turn the engine on without disarming the alarm. i have no alternate remote and when i have my car jumped the alarm starts going off and i don't know how to make it stop. what should i do?? also, i have AAA, is there anything they can help with?

ANSWER: Make, model & year of the vehicle?

Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: its a 98 Honda passport(SUV).

i know the alarm is aftermarket (when the alarm sounds the headlights flash and a siren goes off). there is nothing on the dash that lights up when the alarm sounds.

there is a small button that i believe to be hooked up to the alarm system, i was told to have the alarm go off and hit the button twice to set it into "valet made" but that didn't work and the  alarm continued to go off.

Answer
Hmmmm,
Make sure you do the procedure correctly.
Might have missed a step:

KEY ON JUST BEFORE CRANKING ENGINE.
PRESS IN AND HOLD UNTIL YOU GET A RESPONCE
FROM THE ALARM.
KEY OFF.

This should toggle the alarm in and out of
valet/override.

I hope this solved it for you.
