Car Alarms: 2008 4runner alarm, fcc id numbers, 2008 4runner

Question
QUESTION: I just bought a 2008 toyota 4 runner. they were charging 632 dollars for the alarm. I told them I did not whant it. They said they would take it out. But it is still in there but does not work. any suggestions on how to get it working. I followed all of the wires. did not find any disconnected.

ANSWER: All they did was keep the remotes, and might
have given you a simple keyless/panic (OEM) pair.
Old dealership trick. The alarm was sold to the
dealer for maybe 100.-150. installed by the contractor.

If you can get any info on the system you have
(aftermarket likely put in when they got
it on the lot. Installed and provided by contractor),
then you might to locate the remotes and
tell the dealership to have a nice day!

Once you locate the brain box under the dash,
try to find FCC ID numbers or company labling,
then go to the manufacturer to track down the transmitters.

QUESTION: I looked for the brain. They took that out. They left the shock sensor and glass breakage.
The 4 runner the stock key pad rolls down the back window. Can i get a new alarm and keep the same key pad.

Answer
Hmmmm, well yes, but the other buttons would conflict
with the after market system (lock/unlock) so yes,
but ONLY that feature, and you will still need to
use the 2 transmitters unless you did
some extensive wiring to roll up and down the window.
