Car Alarms: New Car Battery/Cans Use Remote to Lock, Unlock, or Remote Start, valet mode, remote start

Question
I have a Commander Model 7000 PC four channel remote security and start system. I recently had a new car battery installed. As soon as the battery was connected, it triggered the car alarm. The mechanic could not disarm it with the remote, so I inserted the key, turned it to the on position and pushed the valet button. That turned off the alarm, and I was able to drive the car. When I got home I turned off the valet mode and the car armed itself as usual. When I try to remote start/unlock the vehicle using the remote it doesn't work. The remote battery is new, so I know that's not the problem. I have overridden the system again for now, but would really like access to my remote start considering I live in Chicago, and it has been freezing out lately. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Answer
Depending on the vehicle, you probably lost programming on the
bypass kit used to remote start, and or, may have lost
fuses when the battery came back online, loosing the control
over the locks.

Take it to the installer you used to put it in and
have that looked at.

Likely as not, the bypass module will need to be reprogrammed.

Good luck.
