Car Alarms: Alarm lights, car alarm installation, flash circuit

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2003 Sonata v-6 with factory installed alarm.  When I arm or disarm the alarm the outside marker lights only flash on the drivers side, but have stopped working on the passenger side.  All brake lights, marker lights, turn signals, backup lights etc. etc.. work and function normally.  I have taken all lights from the drivers side and placed them on the passenger side and vise versa but it is still the passenger side that does not flash while arming or disarming. The alarm does function normally.  I contacted Hyundai and they said they never heard of this,  I would appreciate any ideas.  Thank you,  Barry

ANSWER: Ok, probably installed at the dealership prior to sale
and was listed as "Factory" installed.

Likely as not, the parking light flash circuit wire
from the alarm is on the wrong "common" parking ligh
wire.

Take this to a local car alarm installation shop,
(not Hyundai) and have them re assign the
Parking Lights wire to the PINK (- negative)
at the vehicle light switch.

That should correct the trouble.

Good luck.

QUESTION: The alarm has worked fine for many years and then just stopped so how could the alarm be on the wrong "common" parking light wire.  It stopped about a year ago, but as I stated above all other functions of all the lights are correct.

Answer
Ok, following that logic, why would only one side of the vehicle go bad? Could be a fault in the cpu. Or, the inline fuses of
and after market alarm could have popped if the
installer split the lighting system's connections (LIKE A Y CONFIGURATION) to address 2 positive wires that showed 12 volts when turned on. One side may not have enough voltage to flash now.

In this car, the common wire is a pink and would need
to have a negative type relay to invert the polarity.
And from my own experience consulting online and in my own
shops, that alot of shade tree installers have no clue how
to do that, and opt to do it "they're" way.
So it's possible.
