Car Alarms: GM VSS-150 alarm system 1998 Chevy Suburban, alarmtek, chevy suburban

Question
QUESTION: I had disconnected the battery to replace the starter. When i hooked up the battery the alarm went off and wouldn't stop.  I pressed the unlock button on the remote and it stopped. To reset the system i turned the ignition on and pushed the valet button for over 10 seconds and turned the ignition off.  The alarm system didn't beep to show it was reset.  My problem now is: the alarm goes off everytime I open any of the doors.  The only way to open a door without the alarm going off is to use the unlock button on the remote.  Also if i use the unlock button and don't open the door (a minute or so) I will hear the alarm set itself and will then go off if i open the door. Any ideas for resetting the system? thanks bobby

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: The "going off" is: horn honking, flashers flashing, LED  blinking (fast). I bought this suburban brand new and the alarm must have been installed at the dealer where i purchased it. I called dealer but he couldn't help me without bringing it in and he's 500 miles away. I have the original GM booklet on it, but it doesn't have a troubleshooting section. A dealer here in town couldn't help me either.
