Car Alarms: Code Alarm Sure Start LX 2000 Maxima, car alarm installer, alarmtek

Question
I have a 2000 Maxima GLE that has a Code Alarm Sure Start LX alarm/remote start system in it (that was unhooked and no one told me about when I bought the car years ago).  If I hook it up everything works fine except the remote start fails because the chip/key/device programming isn't programmed to the ignition.  I can't find any information on how this system is typically setup.  I assume there's a chip, spare key, or something up in the ignition column, but it's not apparent when looking (without the under consoling removed).

Do you know if this would be a spare key or some code alarm unit/chip?  Should I remove that consoling (am I looking in the right place)?  Or maybe it's somehow programmed into the main code alarm unit itself?

I've read that you don't deal with the programming, but I'm hoping that you can help me with what the norm is for this install, what I should be looking for, or if it's the main unit control that a vendor would have to handle.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed

Answer
You would need to inspect the connection on the
transponder module. It would be a key in it.
If not, then the bypass module may be a databus
type.

Hard to tell from my vantage point, but I suggest a visit
to a local car alarm installer for a system evaluation,
would go a long way to helping you with this.

I hope it was helpful.
