Car Alarms: Uninstalling Checkmate Car Alarm, alarmtek, honda odyssey

Question
I have CHECKMATE security system. It was an after market installed by the dealer in my 2000 Honda Odyssey. I have only one remote key left and not very dependable. They are hard to find. Alarm goes off once in a while. I am curiuos what would happen if the car battery dies and have to install a new one. I was told that it requires remote key to cancel it.

It was a used van we purchased from someone.  I would like to uninstall it. What should I do?
