Car Alarms: no start situation, 2004 nissan maxima, security alarm system

Question
I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima that had shut down on me while driving in March, and have not been able to start ever since.  It has been to two Nissan dealerships who have not been able to detect the problem (even after putting in a cam sensor, computer brain etc.) and have told me it needs another engine.  Without absorbing any further costs I was advised to take it to an auto electrician who after inspecting all the wires believed it has to do with the security alarm system which he could not fix due to lack of schematic.  The car will turn over, but it refuses to start.  The Nissan corporation refuses to send me any schematic, and told me to go back to the dealership.  I'm at a loss as to what to do and how to fix it.  I am still paying monthly payments on it.  What do you think it may be or suggest where I could go?  Any help would be appreciated.  Rick Coletti

Answer
Odd. Ok sounds like a bad transponder set up in the ignition.
Nissan uses a pelet based coded key transponder system and it is
faulty. In the work we do here, we do have to
bypass these for remote starter purposes, but it is dependent
on a viable "WORKING" system so it can be reset.

I would discuss this with the folks at Nissan service.
Obviously NOT under warranty at this point, so it
can be costly, but in my mind, the resetting of the transponder
system and re coding the keys is what I would try first.
If this was tried and failed to correct the situation,
then it's on to optional technician evaluation to determine
the problem and implementing the fix.

Wish I had more to go on like a personal inspection of
the system, but from what you said already, that is my
first suggested step. Get another tech in there to look it over.

Good luck with this.

helpful.

Good luck there.
