Car Alarms: BMW 316i factory fitted alarm, bmw 316i, alarm systems

Hi

A month or so ago the alarm and central locking stopped working when I pressed the fob even though the light on the fob still came on. I changed the battery in the fob and it still doesnt operate the alarm and central locking. I am opening with the key in the door and the central locking all still works fine.

So its just the communication between the fob and the system. Do I need to reset the alarm or something? Do I need a new fob?
