Car Alarms: ive lost key fob to K9 alarm system, brain box, dash area

Question
QUESTION: I have a K9 alarm system on my Altima and I've lost the key fob to arm and disarm it. I have to have car battery replaced today and I know in the past we've had to have the fob to disarm alarm when reconnecting the battery. What do I do?????? Should I just unhook it?

ANSWER: Contact the folks at www.CARALARMS.com and
see if they can locate a dealer for you to
get a replacement.

Until then, try override.

KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN OVERRIDE BUTTON UNDER THE DASH
AREA UNTIL THE SIREN CHIRPS. THIS IS OVERRIDE.
leave it this way until you are able to order and
receive the new remotes.

Good luck.

QUESTION: Just out of curiosity...is it a difficult thing to just unhook the alarm entirely? Is it something I can do myself? And if so, how do I do it?

Answer
It depends on where the Brain box was installed,
and what it controls too.

If it does the door locks for instance,
then you will loose that function if removed.

If just put into override, then it should stay
that way, discounting the door locks, but
staying in ovverride so you can
get the new remote.
