Car Alarms: Saturn ION 2007 theft deterrent system, theft deterrent system, gm saturn

Question
QUESTION: I have a Saturn ION 2 2007 model and now when I lock the doors using the key remote the alarm will go come on for a few minutes then stop, In a few minutes it will come back on. It repeats this pattern for hours @ times. There seems to be times when it does not go off for whatever reason. Any ideas? This is annoying and embarassing also.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: It is a factory installed system I asssume. It tells about the anti-theft deterrent system in the owners manual but it doesn't have anything about trouble shooting. The horn beeps and the lights flash. There is a light on the instrument panel that flashes on yellow which shows a padlock I believe.

Answer
Hey , I get this one a whole lot
(as you probably have read.)

and of course, & Unfortunately, yes this
vehicle has a the PASSKEY key/immobilizer
based engine disabling system, and will require a
GM PLJX bypass module to circunvent it and
KEEP IT THAT WAY! First off. it needs to be reset.
You can try the key in the ignition, turn on
and leave that way for 10 - 11 mins. this may
relearn the passkey code. If no joy, GM/SATURN
will need to put on the diagnostic and reset it.

Then to get rid of this for good,
a bypass is required to interupt PASSLOCK for
remote start applications. It is done by
grounding the system to allow it to start,
then re establish it for security usage.

This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to provide
a proper coded pulse to open the fuel rail
passlock injector cut off circuit.

The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.

That is it's designed purpose.

This is a self learning, resistor sensing
and self adjusting module. Once the VATS/PASSLOCK
wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.
