Car Alarms: Alarm Remote Replacement, keyless entry systems, car alarms

I lost my spare keys with my spare viper remote on them. My system is an alarm with remote start purchased in 2003. Can I get a single replacement remote to synk up with what I have or do I need a whole new set? Is this expensive? Can I do it myself or do I have to go to an electronics place?
