Car Alarms: 00 honda crv factory Alarm, honda crv, d1 d2

Question
QUESTION: Hello,

well this morning as my wife was going to work, she unlocked her car with the key as she always does and the alarm starter to go off... well we never knew her car even had an alarm, since we purchansed it used, and it did not come with a alarm remote...

well now the car will not start, some few lights trun on as we try to true the car on, but the car does not turn on and the alarm keeps blaring.

now my question is, how could this happen just out of no where, and how to i get this resolved, well its not the newest of cars so i really dont care about the alarm, i really just want the car to turn on again,,, i love my wife,, but having to take her to work every day is killin me.... im sure if you are married you would understand

i thank you in advance for your help...
Leo

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Robert

Thanks a Mil for such a quick reponse... i made a mistake its a 2000 honda Crv not a 06...

the light are not flashing,,, just the horn,,, but some lights on the indicator panel are flashing, one is the check engine light, and the other is the lights around the gear the car is in, you know the "p,r,n,d,d1,d2, etc." i do not think it is an after market, i think it might be factory,,but i am not sure...

help this clears things up,,, if not please let me know what else you would need to know

Answer
Hmmmm, ok, humor me here for a sec...
Please try to override it and reset.

KEY IN AND IN THE ON POSITION JUST BEFORE CRANKING,
PRESS AND HOLD IN THE VALET SWITCH/BUTTON,
FOUND UNDER THE DASH AREA, UNTIL YOU
GET A CHIRP FROM THE HORN, AND MAYBE A FLASH OF
THE LIGHTS. THEN KEY OFF.

This procedure would let you toggle into and out of
override on most alarms.

Let me know if it does with yours too.
