Car Alarms: 2003 Honda Pilot car alarm (factory), replacement remotes, honda pilot

Question
Trying to make sense of  HOW  my 2003 Honda Pilot car alarm works, that is, the "logic" of it. If someone opens the hood or tries to pick a door lock, my alarm will give off a feeble one-time "Beep". However, if I get gas at a place with some kind of "pay pass", my alarm will shreik like a banshee when " I " finish gassing up and dare turn my own ignition on. It will also shriek like a banshee if I sit in my parked car with the engine off, waiting for a bit, then I dare to unlock the car and get out without first turning on and off the ignition. What kind of doped-up imbecile designed such a horror of a "system"? It alarms against its own owner and completely NORMAL functions 90% of the time. How is this a "help"???

Answer
Ok, "factory alarms" do NOT set themselves,
or have a siren that "shreiks like a Banshee."
Yours seems to be after market.

Each after market alarm is different. The best way
to determine what you have is to go to a site that
identifies and sells replacement remotes like
www.KEYNFOB.com , use the FCC ID # on the back of the
remote.

Once you know the manufacturere, look up the web site,
and try to download the manual for it. In the manual,
you should find the procedure to change the feature settings,
like last door arming (passive) to "active" arming when
YOU must arm it for it to work. Then locate the shock sensor
and turn it down or, off.

Also, to place it into "OVERRIDE", locate the under dash
valet button or, switch. Then put the key in, turn to
the on position, just before cranking and press in
and hold the button until you get a response from the
siren. This should be override. Leave it this way until you get
some solid info on what you have in there.

Then change whatever you like to fit your needs and habits.

Let me know what you figure out.
