Car Alarms: 2000 cadillac catera factory alarm system, 2000 cadillac catera, cadillac catera

Question
I recently purchased a '00 Cadillac catera. It is supposed to have a factory installed alarm system but the horn does not sound when I try to arm the system. Also the check in the manual for the alarm system didn't work. Is it possible the alarm is faulty or has been disabled? My keyless entry works on the door locks and the lights blink when I use it.

Answer
This car does indeed have 2 security devices.
One is if breached/break in. The horn would
honk and the head lights would flash.

The 2nd is the PASSKEY system from GM and
would shut down the fuel system if someone
uses the wrong key in the ignition.

They are there. They do exsist. But may not "ACT" like
the traditional system would.

Now if after market system is also installed,
it would have a siren, and flash the parking lights instead.
This system would also be able to be overriden with a
hidden button or switch.

Those are the variables. GM can NOT turn they'res off.
The factory remote will control it though, so you might
want to visit the service dept. at the local GM/Cadillac
dealership to see what they offer too.

I hope this helped a bit.
