Car Alarms: Pursuit alarm silent arming and disarming, circuit city, keyless entry

Question
QUESTION: I just had a Pursuit alarm system with keyless entry installed in my 09 Camry.  At first, the lights did not flash when locking/unlocking and I could not get the silent arming and disarming to work (hold button down for 2 seconds).  It would just immediately lock and unlock instead.
I took it to the dealership and they fixed the lights but said that they could do nothing about the silent arming and disarming, claiming it's a problem they can't fix.  Is there a way to make the silent arming and disarming work?

ANSWER: The dealership did not install it. An after market contract installer did. It's best to take it to a local installer to evaluate it.
There may be a setting that can be done, there also may be a wire
the installer did not use (horn honk). This should all
be looked at by a qualified tech.

Try Circuit City/ Best Buys etc...

QUESTION: The dealership did install it.  I just forgot to mention that.  But if you guys don't have any other ideas on why it's like this, I guess I'll have to have someone else look at it like you suggested.

Answer
Ok, good idea anyway, but still, not to put my head in the
lion's mouth here, but unless Toyota bought the
Audiovox/Pursuit line, I am pretty sure the company
you bought it from and hired an after market contractor
to come to the shop and install several basic systems
into the new line of cars. It's a common industry
practice, but rarely shared with the buyer.

They may not want to share that info readily,
but from my 35 + years in this biz, that's how
it's been done for decades.

Not common knowledge to the end user/customer, but true.
If you can locate the guy the dealership uses
in town who does Pursuit, that would be ok, but if
he installed it, and is unaware of how to make the
changes you need, then it is suggested you move on
to someone who does.
