Car Alarms: 1999 Chevy S-10 blazers factory alarm, valet mode, chevy dealer

Question
I just received from my father his 99 blazer with a factory alarm.  He has
never liked it and could do nothing with the alarm in all the years he has had
it. So he brought it to chevy to have it turned off. Well, disconnected the
battery for service and now the alarm has been reset. Now it wont shut up!
every 30 seconds it resets itself. you cant close the doors or it goes off. it
then kills the engine. So you spend all your time disarming it while you
loading the SUV. PLease help. We dont have the owners manual for the alarm.
The Chevy dealer we originally bought the car from  is out of business. How
do I change the settings on this alarm. I dont even have a name of it. I know
where the little button is that changes settings. but I dont know how long I
have to press it for, or how many times in a row I have to press it to change
stuff. I know I am vague but I dont have much other than the year it was
installed. 1999. Thank you

Answer
To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

The next step is if wanting to remove it,
you contact a local technician to
locate it, and affect neccesary service
for you.

That should solve the troubles.

If it's the factory OEM alarm, then
GM will need to reset it for you.

Let me know what you discover.
