Car Alarms: Viper Car Alarm malfunctioning, chevy silverado, keyless entry systems

Question
I bought a used 2001 Chevy Silverado in Jan.  The car alarm worked up until a few weeks ago and then it stopped chirping when I locked the doors with the remote.  Yesterday my car had trouble starting like the battery was dead.  I noticed that my "security" light flashed until I closed the door.  It stopped flashing, but about ten seconds later my gauges came on.  I assume this has to do with the alarm system.  I have looked all over for a "valet" switch and couldn't find it. All I could find was a clear plastic box that said "shock sensor" on it.  I also found two wires with fuses in them, one of which was blown.  I replaced the fuse but am still havingthe same problem.  How do I fix this?
