Car Alarms: finding the valet/reset button, subaru legacy outback, jumper cables

Question
I've read a few of your postings on disabling alarms for subarus.  I have a 98 subaru legacy outback (limited - I don't know if that matters).  I just spent an hour and a half looking for this valet/code button and can't find it.  Could you possibly post a picture or maybe describe in detail what it looks like and where to find it.  I am at my wits end. I have to hook up jumper cables just to see if I can get it started.  As sooon as I disconnect them, the alarm functions (lights only) kill the battery.  Also there is an almost constant ticking coming from the remote/keyless entry box.  As the battery is dying this speeds up to a very rapid ticking.  PLEASE HELP!!

Answer
Well it's a spring loaded button or a toggle type switch.
I don't really have a pic of one handy though.

It is found under the dash or in a fuse comparment,
even part of the antenna if on the window glass or,
the LED in the dash could even do double duty if
it's a Code Alarm. If you simply don't have one,
then either replace it, or remove the alarm.

If no Joy, unplug the brain box under the dash, and then
repair the wiring to completely extract it.
