Car Alarms: code-alarm system, valet mode, toggle switch

Question
QUESTION: i have a 2003 monte carlo with a f50/f55 system. when i put a new battery in the car last winter, the remote starter wouldn't work any longer. the remote will lock & unlock the doors & activates the lights, but the car won't start. would appreciate any help with this problem.

ANSWER: Hmmmm, interesting.
It appears from your expaination, that the
after market system may be in service mode.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.

QUESTION: thanks for the info, although it doesn't help me much. i cannot find a button to push or a toggle switch anywhere. i looked under the dash in the drivers area & couldn't find anything. i can see where the wires were spliced into, thats all. maybe no button or toggle switch???? thanks, ron

Answer
Then best bet is to get it to and aftermarket
technician and have him evaluate what
you have there, and try to nail down the
issue.
Always best to go to an alarm guy when this
kind of thing comes up for first hand inspection &
repair.

Good luck.
