this issue started when i lost the remote and i am using a duplicate key to use the car. the car wont start because the security light is flashing.

Answer
That's a catch 22 unfortunately.

Just so we understand each other,
It is designed to momentarily disable PASSLOCK &
to allow for remote start by grounding out the PASSLOCK
for that period of time (when remote starting through
to cycle end), then re establishing it's normal functions
when the remote start cycle is completed.

If you are buying
this module for remote starting your engine, this is the one
you will need to do it correctly.

Now, here's the hard truth.
You can attempt to put the key in the ignition,
turn it on to just before cranking and then leaving
it that way for 10 mins. After that,
some PASSLOCK systems will re learn the code
and allow for starting. That's best scenerio.
But if you can't start it, you can't program the
module to bypass it.

But if it starts, here's the fun part.
The happy coincidence with this bypass module, is that if you
simply ground the PLJX module input wire, it will keep
PASSLOCK disabled until un grounded, thus allowing the fuel
injection rail to go to normal function and stay that way.

This works 95% of the time for ALL GM vehicles, and disables the
PASSLOCK issue alltogether. Like it was NEVER there.

If however, the PASSLOCK system is not allowing start
of the engine, just cranking, I can't give you a guaranty
that it will work. But, as long as you can start the engine now,
even intermittently, long enough to program the bypass module
(at least running for 2 minutes), it should do the trick.

Please keep in mind that GM has NO interest in bypassing
your PASSLOCK since there's no money in it for them that way.
So they have customers constantly in the shop "fixing" this issue.
It's a neat little "restricted to US only" service job for GM,
since they are usually the only one who can reset/repair
or replace the PASSLOCK systems in they're cars and trucks.

It is the best/cheaper method if indeed it's a standard factory OEM
PASSLOCK system. GM's service dept. will charge between 260. & 700.
depending on how they will have to go about "FIXING" it.

If it's me, I'd try it.
