QUESTION: My Honda Civic 2001 EX security system horn is working when I press the PANIC button,but  not  when opening the door without remote. The doors are perfectly opening and closing with remote key. Some weeks ago, when i lock the car with the remote and i tried to open the door with the key the alarm works fine, but now the alarm has stopped blaring.I read on the website and tried to find the toggle switch to reset, but could not locate it. I will be grateful if you can help me locate the toggle switch so that i can fix this problem. Thanks


ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

If it's factory, I can not assist with it.
There is no valer overide on factory systems.
Honda would need to assist on that.

I'd give a local service dept. at Honda a call about
this. I might be a computer glitch, or an open circuit
They will need to diagnose and reset.
