Car Alarms: car alarm for 96 acura integra, alarmtek, acura integra

I have a 1996 Acura Integra.  The factory alarm was disconnected because it shut my car down after I jumped some one.  It was stolen and recovered.  Now I want to install an aftermarket one.  Can I do this if my original alarm is disconnected.  What are some good alarms for this type of car?
