Car Alarms: Volvo XC70 car alarm going off for no reason, volvo xc70, alarmtek

Question
Our 2003 Volvo XC70 alarm is going off intermittedly - there doesn't seem to be much consistency about when it goes off, and we have no idea *why* it goes off.  It started after I locked the doors with the remote while one door was left open.  I was getting my sleeping son out of the car seat which took a little longer than usual.  The alarm went off & I turned it off with the remote.  After that, it went off every hour to hour & a half.  At one point, I got in and drove it around the block.  I also tried locking it with the key in the door instead of just the remote.  If we leave it unlocked, it seems to reset itself.  This last time, it went off after four hours (at 1am - ugh!).  Any help would be *so* appreciated!!

Thanks!

Answer
Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.
