Car Alarms: Factory alarm system, brain box, question change

Sometimes you need to be in a certian area of the vehicle to get the remote to activate the system. Is there a sensor on the vehicle that can be cleaned or needs checking?

Hard to say. It's normally and antenna placement or,
a low battery issue when range is in question.

Change the battery in the remote to start with.
Then, if it's after market, locate the brain box
under the dash, and try repositioning the antenna
(virtically is best) for optimum range.

Let me know if the simple battery change did the trick.
