QUESTION: I unhooked my battery, hooked it back up and my car will not start. the only way my car will start now is by jumping it off. How do i reset my alarm so that my car will start?

ANSWER: Make, model & year of the vehicle?

Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: It is 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It is an aftermarket alarm. The model number is "Model Pro 9233. The alarm itself is working but i believe it needs to be reset because it want allow my car to start. The battery is fully charged and the only thing i can think of is this alarm. No lights are going off, no siren or anything, its just that the car doesn't start. Is there anyway to reset the alarm?

Answer
ok, To try to disarm it,
look under the dash area for a button or,
a toggle switch. When you locate it, turn on the
ignition key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.=VALET/OVERIDE

This stops the alarm except for the keyless
entry if installed. Once in Valet mode,
it will allow the car to start and operate
like there was no alarm at all.

The next step is to remove the alarm.
This might require a local technician to
identify it, and affect neccesary service for you.

That should solve the troubles.
