Car Alarms: DEFA car alarm stopped responding to remote, car alarm system, mercedes benz 190

Hi. I have a problem with my DEFA ( http://cor.defa.com/)car alarm system on my Mercedes-Benz 190. Not sure about the alarm model, its a bit older one, I think it should be model 300 but I cant be sure as I do not have the documentation. It worked flawlessy until recently . The alarm was armed, but it did not respond to the remote any more so I could not disengage the alarm. Replaced batteries in the remote just in case but no luck. The alarm together with motion sensor and siren worked fine but the link with the remote didnt work. With the help of a mechanic I managed to remove the alarm box and connect the necessary wires for now in order to get the car running again. I'm wondering if anybody with not the best toughts in mind had been doing something to the alarm as I noticed some strange activity around where the car was parked during the night it stopped working. Is there a way to solve this? Thanks in advance!
