Car Alarms: CAR ALARM, alarmtek, vantage point

Question
QUESTION: I just got a new car (2002 Audi A6) and the alarm randomly goes off. Any ideas why or how I can stop it. It has already went off twice today and it's only the middle of the day.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: Its a factory alarm that came with the car. The headlights are flashing. The car says that the battery level is good. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with it, but when I lock the car the horn beeps, but the sound of the horn is very low and when you close the trunk it beeps low as well.

Answer
Got me on that one.
I don't know quite what to tell you at this point.

I would start with an evaluation by a local
after market alarm technician to discount what it "isn't",
and to possible locate the issue. If you go to audi,
you will pay Audi tech rates.

Try the after market car alarm guy first.
This will help narrow down and get the
repair done if necessary, for less money, and gives
you a "hands on inspection" into the issue
so you don't get stuck down the line.

Best idea I can offer on this.
To me, it sounds like an after market
alarm that is badly grounded. But from my
vantage point, it's a guess.

I hope that a local tech can help.
