Car Alarms: 2001 dodge grand caravan alarm, dodge grand caravan, resident technicians

Question
I have a 2001 dodge grand caravan that i replaced the battery in and after the battery was replaced, the alarm doesn't work. i believe it is a factory alarm as the key fob is by Chrysler 3 buttons. lock, unlock and panic.
also in vehicle is auto command auto start which is still working. 1 switch under dash that disables and then enables the auto start. no other valet switch visable.before the battery switch if i opened the car with alarm on, the horn would beep and lights would flash. now after i set it and open the door nothing happens but panic button does work either if alarm is on or off.
