Car Alarms: 2006 Kia Spectra sensitive alarm, 2006 kia spectra, kia spectra

Question
QUESTION: after rolling over 20thousand miles the factory alarm seems to have become
super sensitive to trucks passing by and guys with bass systems in their cars.

is there a place to adjust the sensitivity?  is there a valet switch in the 06 model?

ANSWER: It's the shock sensor, and it's after market.
If you can locate it under the dash, there
is an inset wheel on it that you can turn counter clockwise
for less sensetivity and up for more.

I'd unplug it cause they are always too this or that.

But it's located under the dash area and would
also have 1 or 2 blinking led's when it senses
vibration.

Good hunting.

PS. Yes it's likely to have an over ride button
under the dash as well.

QUESTION: I don't see anything out of the ordinary under the dash.  Nothing with any LED
lights.

Is it possible to switch off a factory system with out stripping wires?

Answer
Well, no it's not possible, and no, you don't
have a factory alarm. Kia did not offer one for this
model & year.

But it's also likely that the installer
did a good job and wire tied the shock sensor
where no one would see it. You will need
to go up under the dash area near the steering column
to locate the after market brain and trace
to it's shock sensor box.
