Car Alarms: BMW E34 525 wont start, seems to be driveaway protection?, bmw e34 525, dash area

Question
We purchased a 95 525 yesterday.  It had been vandalized and the front back and a side window had been broken out.  The owner said the car didn't start after that.  I have power but no crank.  With this said how do I reset the system?  Must the windows be replaced before it can be reset and is reset something I can do myself.

Thanks

Answer
Ok, first off, is it:

(SIREN & FLASHING PARKING LIGHTS= AFTER MARKET
or is it:
CAR HORN & FLASHING HEADLIGHTS= OEM-FACTORY)

If the OEM alarm is malfunctioning now,
(car horn blarring and head lights flashing)
odds are, it will again.

If you have already have an after market alarm
installed in this vehicle then try this first:

Then look for the over ride/valet button under
the dash area, probably to the left leg region,
drilled into the plastic kick panel.

Then it's: KEY ON, PRESS AND HOLD IN BUTTON FIRMLY
UNTIL THE SIREN CHIRPS ONCE, AND THE PARKING LIGHTS
FLASH. THEN KEY OFF.

This is over ride, and the car should start.
The only thing that would work would be keyless
entry if it is installed. The alarm functions
have been suspended.

Now, if it's the BMW EWS II immobilizer chip in the
ignition column (factory immobilizer)that
you are dealing with, then you would need to
have BMW reprogram the ignition keys,
and then add a bypass module if you want to
not have this issue flare up again.

Sorry, nothing easy, electronics wise, in a B'mer!

Let me know which applies to your issue.

Good luck.
