Car Alarms: 2000 Mitsubishi Galant, mitsubishi galant, mitsubishi service

Question
My girlfriend has 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. We replaced her battery today, and now on her dash's LED display - there's a green car with a green key in it. I did a little research and found that it's the factory alarm that has kicked in (again I suppose) and it won't allow the car to start what-so-ever. How do you disable/bypass this?

Answer
Bad news I am afraid. You will need to have it towed
into your local Mitsubishi service department
to reset/reprogram the ignition immobilizer.
It seems to have lost it's data when you powered down,
and now the key and reader do not have a matching
code to allow for the fuel rail to engage.
This means no go until reset.

Sorry about that but I am just the messenger.
Yell at Mitsubishi.

Good luck.
