Car Alarms: Car alarm sound., double beep, valet mode

Question
QUESTION: Hi,
My car alarm will lock my doors and the lights will blink when activated but the double beep sound you normally hear cannot be heard, i have the motion detection around the car and normally when come near the car it beeps, now when i walked up on the car there was no beep, would really appreciate some advice, thank you.

ANSWER: It appears from your expaination, that the
car alarm is in service mode.

Ok, try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.

QUESTION: Hi,
Thank you for getting back to me so soon, i read your response but did not really understand all of it. I own a 1998 BMW Z3 and i looked for the valet switch but could not locate it, any idea where it would be, and i also want to thank for trrying to help me out, i greatly appreciate it.

Answer
Ok, usually located at the left leg area drilled into the plastic
panel covering the wire pack going out to the drivers side door.

It can also be part of the antenna on the windshield if installed
or, even part of the LED light if it's a Code Alarm system.

Hard to say since I am not there to inspect, but keep searching.
If no joy, try taking it up to the local car alarm installer
to search it out.

Wish I had more for ya.

Good holiday!
