Car Alarms: Lost remote on my 1999 Montero, valet mode, dash area

Question
I recently lost the remote on my 1999 Montero.  The alarm is now armed.  How do I disarm it using the spare key? What would be the procedure to disarm it?  I heard about looking for a certain "switch" underneath the dash.  Do you know where exactly will I find it?  Im just paranoid that I wont find the button in time and the alarm will go off and so will my pandemonium and panic!

Please help!...

Answer
An after market alarm if installed
would have a valet over ride switch
usually placed to the left leg area
under the dash.

It appears from your expaination, that the
car alarm is in service mode.

Try this.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward
all the way just before cranking. Then within
5 seconds, press and hold in the valet/overide
button, found under the dash area, usually to the
left of the leg drilled into a hidden away spot,
until the installed LED (the blinking light)
in your dash area goes off, and the siren chirps twice.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type.
in this case, key on, flip switch in oposite direction,
key off.)

This should reset the alarm.

Just Repeat these steps to place it
back to valet mode.

That should do it.
Let me know what happens.
