Car Alarms: Question re Excalibur AL-700 Car Alarm Problem, toyota camry, transmitter button

Question
I hope you can help me. I have a 1993 Toyota Camry. The Excalibur AL-700 alarm was installed 'after-market'. It has started acting erratically all of a sudden. I checked the battery on the transmitter and it is okay.

If I press the button on the transmitter, when working correctly it should lock or unlock the car doors, the siren should make chirping sounds and the headlights should go on for awhile. Now when I try to lock or unlock, I hear the locks on the doors clicking and sometimes see them flipping back and forth, but the car will not unlock. I have to use the key to unlock the car.

It will lock itself automatically and it will arm itself, if I press the transmitter button, but the lights and the chirp do not come on.  Also, the LED Status Indicator is not acting normally, sometimes flashing irregularly.

I have the Excalibur manual but am an elderly lady and have no idea where to even begin to look for the problem, although I suspect it might be simple to fix.

I would REALLY appreciate your help! I obviously don't want to spend a lot of money to troubleshoot the system as I intend to get a new car by the end of this year. But in the meantime, I really like having the alarm working, especially so I can find it in the parking lot!

Can you tell me some things I might be able to check myself or who might be able to fix it without spending a lot?

Thank you SO much!
Judy

Answer
The best thing here is
to write to my OMEGA Alarm technician at
scadss@tmail.com and see if
he can assist you with this issue.

I unfortunately don't know the
system you are working with to advise
you properly on it's functions,
features or trouble shooting
information. Better to check with a tech
that might.

Good luck there.
