Car Alarms: 97 camry le alarm reset, valet service, car wont start

QUESTION: I have a 97 camry le, 4cyl. I dont know if it is a facory or dealer installed but it hasa akeyless entry system/alarm and elvat6b is written on the back of the fob. after battery replacement, alarm was activated, I guess, now car wont start, keyless wont lock/unlock doors.previously, fob weas locking and unlocking the doors. How do I start the engine. I give up programming keyless entry, I can use the key, but I need the car to start.please help me.local dealer telss me to tow my car to shop to program/reset alarm and I know it will not take more than 5 mins for them to do it but it will cost me hundreds (towing/programming)

ANSWER: Sure, let's put it into valet/service mode.

Look under the dash area for a button or, a toggle
switch. When you locate it, turn on the ignition
key, press and hold in the button (little
spring loaded micro button, red or black possibly)
until the alarm chirps 1 time. This should over ride
the system, and only the keyless entry part,
if installed, would still be operating.
The LED (light emiting diode) light in the dash
should also go on solid.

This solves the problem for now.

Then if you want to remove it, take it to a local
after market alarm dealer and have it done there.

They may even be able to reset/reprog. the features on
the alarm you have, to allow you to use the system
more comfortably, but of course, your call.

QUESTION: thank you very much for the quick answer.
However, I have tried it but still car did not work.there is red light/button on the left side of the dashboard, near to the mirror controls.i put the key in the ignition turn all the way before cranking, then press that red button, it would turn solid sometimes and sometimes blink or turn off, and regardless of its status, the car wont start. alarm goes on when I try to start the engine.then i press that button, alarm could stop or continue, i have to press several times.it is too noisy.any idea how could i start the car by bypassing the alarm.

Have a look under the dash area for another
button. If not found, then it's on to towing it
to a local car alarm/stereo installer, or find
one that does onsite repair, and have them inspect
and repair.
