Car Alarms: Question about alarm, nissan maxima, resident technicians

I bought a Nissan Maxima 95 a couple years ago.  my car recently got broken into and it didn't occur to me that I may or may not have an alarm to my car.  sometimes when i play around with my car, I would set off this alarm.  Im guessing my car does have an alarm that comes with it.  But the problem is, how do i arm the alarm to my car?  there are only four buttons to my remote.  Anyone have any answers?
