Car Alarms: 2000 Toyota corola alarm removal, toyota corola, resident technicians

Question
I have a 2000 Toyota Corolla with after market alarm on it without any remote when we changed the battery, the alarm started going off and we decided to remove it completely but by doing so I do not know if we shorted out the system The computer burnt out and there is no respond coming out of the computer.
With your experience, do you thing the computer was shorted out! Because of lack of the knowledge of removing the alarm properly.
I had to install a new computer.
Moreover, doing fine without an alarm.
