Car Alarms: 1999 Nissan Altima Alarm going off, nissan altima, dash area

Question
QUESTION: My '99 Nissan Altima alarm activates on its own without anyone doing anything to activate it.  It runs for about 2-3 minutes and then shuts itself off.  I took it to a neighborhood mechanic who checked it out and couldn't get to the bottom of the problem--the alarm never went off by itself while he had it.  Though as his tech was walking away from the car --in frustration he hit the hood with his hand and the alarm activated---so they have assumed that the problem is the hood switch that is located near the top of the strut on the divers side of the vehicle.  They suggested that I replace the switch. They spent three hours working on the car and I negotiated a labor price of $105--for their time--thinking that they working "shooting int the dark"--I really didn't want to have them proceed with their exploration.  I went home and disconnected the switch to see if the alarm would still activate--which it did.  Perhaps the switch is defective and closing the circuit with temperature change--vibration--etc??  Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do next--?  Could I just unplug the hood switch and leave it unplugged--knowing that the hood alarm activation would not work?   ---Which would be no problem.  Or, should I replace the switch? ----and then---if the alarm sounds again in either of these scenarios--where do I go from there?

Thanks for your help.

ANSWER: Please be more descriptive if possible.

"GOING OFF?"

I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY" light in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: I purchased the car new from a Nissan dealership and the alarm is a factory installed alarm. What I mean by going off is that the horn sounds and the lights flash when the alarm activates for no reason at all (that is nobody is trying to break into the car).
Any suggestions as to what I should do next?

Thanks

John

Answer
That's a bit of a problem here.
Because yours is a "FACTORY" or, OEM
(original Equipment Manufacturer) "alarm/security" system,
then the disabling procedure info for any given
specific vehicle is now deamed to be too sensitive to
publish here (as suggested by ALLEXPERTS administration.!).

So, to comply, as of March,22 08, this service is no longer
part of the volunteer information I can offer for free here at
ALLEXPERTS.com . Specific OEM/FACTORY alarm disarm/disabling
info is now available ONLY at the WIREWERX.

My installation wiring charts provide the proper wire colors,
polarities, and locations to install a keyless entry,
remote start or, car alarm system into any given vehicle,
or if just trying to disarm/disable your factory/OEM system,
there is a link there to get a tutourial on how to do it yourself
for only $2.99.

I hope you can appreciate the legal reasons behind not
providing this info any longer to just anyone who asks
for general consumption. By doing it this way, I'll
get a record of payment and a name/email address as
a stop gap to help prevent any unauthorized disabling of
your system or anyone elses, by a would be car thief!

Please go to the WIREWERX so I can get you the
info you require to fix your situation.

Good luck with this issue.
