Car Alarms: Car alarm, pontiac bonneville, alarmtek

Question
I have a 94 pontiac bonneville and recently my car wont start because the factory alarm is keeping me from getting to the starter. All lights and everything comes on but when I turn the ignition, absolutley nothing happens. I have to disarm the factory alarm and I know it's in the drivers door harness but i'm not sure exactly where that is and how do I disarm it? I really don't want to have to take it to the shop

Answer
Hey , I get this one a whole lot
(as you probably have read.)

and of course, & unfortunately, yes this
vehicle has a the PASSLOCK key
based engine disabling system that is waring out
from use over time. This troublesome device is in
this GM vehicle, and yours is enguaged.
To get around this, you will require a
GM IB-IM-PLJX bypass module to circunvent it and
KEEP IT THAT WAY!

A bypass is required to interupt PASSLOCK for
remote start applications. It is done by
grounding the system to allow it to start,
then re establish it for security usage.

This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to provide
a proper coded pulse to open the fuel rail
passlock injector cut off circuit.

The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.

That is it's designed purpose.

This is a self learning, resistor sensing
and self adjusting module. Once the VATS/PASSLOCK
wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.
