Car Alarms: 2002 VW Cabrio car alarm, keyless entry system, remote keyless entry

Question
QUESTION: The car alarm on our 02 VW Cabrio goes off anytime.  At least 2 to 3 times a day or night.  Is there a way to disconnect it?

ANSWER: I need to determine whether it's a factory alarm
issue or, if it's an aftermarket system you are
dealing with.

Is it: Headlights flashing, car horn honking
and a worded SECURITY or, ANTI-THEFT" light
in the dash flashing?
(doubtfull since none of the notes show this
car as having a factory alarm system)=FACTORY

Or,

is it: flashing parking lights,
an LED in the dash area, and a siren
going off?= AFTER MARKET

Let me know more on this to better
advise you on a course of action
to take.

QUESTION: We bought the car used.  The lights and horn sounds when the alarm goes off.  I do not know if it flashes security or anit-theft on the dash

Answer
This "factory alarm", works with the physical action of
locking/arming and unlocking/disarming.
They are intertwind and inseperable

There is no single wire to ground or,
spice into. To disarm these, a remote keyless
entry system would be required.

Of course the key in the drivers door, turn left
first to engage the alarm, then right to unlock
and disarm it, is how a factory alarm can be disabled
as well if it's working. But if damaged in some way,
the only other way is to add a factory remote from the
dealer, or an after market keyless entry system to make
the lock mechanism control the factory alarm.

Wish I had an easy to do method for you, but
I am just the messenger. I only get around the
stuff they throw at you all here!

I hope this was helpful.
